Samsung is planning to appeal, even though earlier this month it already voluntarily agreed to halt sales and marketing in Australia.

As both an Apple fan and a Korea booster, where are you finding your emotional loyalties lying?
ReplyDeleteHmm... good question.
ReplyDeleteI think Korea, even Korea Inc, is stronger than Samsung alone, so I don't worry this is too much of a blow to anyone hoping for Korea to continue to do well economically.
I want Apple to be in a position to be highly innovative and creative for as long as possible, so if this is really what they need to do in order to maintain that, then I guess I'd side with Apple.
However, what I really want is for the two sides to talk it out and come to a friendly resolution. I don't think either has much to gain this way as competitors, but since they are actually business partners in many ways, there's even more potential fallout.
Anyway, the way you put it — Apple fan and Korea booster — is sort of similar to how I feel about Hyundai and Kia, where I'm a Hyundai/Kia fan but also a Big Three booster. I find myself happy about Hyundai and Kia's collective success and looking at their cars first, but I also want GM, Chrysler, and Ford to do well and produce loads more jobs. I guess I might find myself buying a Hyundai Santa Fe in the US and a Chevrolet Cruze in South Korea.
