This blog is for sale.

"Monster Island" first began in 2005 and has grown by leaps and bounds. Anchored by such famous posts as Corea-versus-Korea, it has become a major voice in the Korea-related blogosphere. A steady stream of hits brings in enough Google Ad revenue to provide a comfortable second income.

But frankly, I cannot continue at the pace that I've been going at. From the beginning of January to the end of March, over three hundred posts were written, more than all the posts in any previous year this blog has been around. I have school and family obligations, and I need to focus on those.

And this is the reason I have decided to sell this blog. Blog-selling may sound unorthodox, but it's actually a common practice, much as dentists or family practitioners might sell a booming practice of their own. This blog has a loyal readership and it attracts thousands upon thousands of image searches and other Google searches.

Many of them click on the Google Ads, which generates income in the form of tri-monthly checks. In order to provide full disclosure, I calculated the amount of money earned as a function of how many hours per week I put in to finding stories, writing text, and maintaining the blog, and it comes out to about $19.73 per hour. The beauty of it is that if you put in more time by writing more posts, the amount of hit-generated ad revenue increases proportionately.

I myself bought this blog a few years ago and carried on the "kushibo" brand. There is a basic bio one must follow, modeled after the original "kushibo," but there is wiggle room for creativity. When I purchased it, I paid $5000, but I have since expanded it so much that it is now worth at least three or four times that much.

But I'm not greedy, so I'm willing to sell the blog for just $10K, plus throw in two months of assistance for free, to help you keep the momentum. I am even willing to ghost write blog posts.

If you're interested, visit the Craig's List ad that I set up, or email me at the address listed on the profile page. Serious offers only.

Finally, I want to say that I have enjoyed interacting with all of you. But this is not good-bye: I will still be posting at Marmot's Hole and Hub of Sparkle under my several assumed identities, so you won't really miss my clever banter.

[above: Show me the money! Really, why do I have a caption for this? It's an advertisement. Geez, am I ever stupid.]

UPDATE:
The blog has been sold. Thank you for participating in the bidding war.

UPDATE #2:
I have reclaimed my blog. It was all a foolish mistake. Now let's get back to smug sarcasm and bikini pics.

  1. i came to your blog because i was wooed by your witty commentary on korea beat and i am sad to see that one of my new favourite blogs is being sold.

incidentally, i am a nigerian prince and am heir to a fortune of over 70 million nigerian dollars, the wealth my family has made from our coal mines. i would be willing to purchase your website from you. all you need to do is provide me with your banking information and credit card numbers.

  2. As much as I would have loved to sell my blog to a rich Nigerian prince, I'm afraid that I have already found a buyer.

After a fierce bidding war between three parties, I have sold the blog to an undisclosed owner who promises to maintain the theme and integrity of the blog for a whopping $22,500.

    I'm going to Disneyland!
