And now we know the rest of the story

In Korea, AFN radio and television are my greatest weapons against boredom when I'm driving (yeah, I have a factory-built TV in my Kia Carnival).

On Sunday nights I would listen to Prairie Home Companion or Car Talk as I drove home from my girlfriend's house. Every hour on the hour during weekdays I would listen to the five-minute news roundup which inspired me in my own news-related activities. I would time my commutes for when shows like Jeopardy were on the air (Jeopardy is a good TV show for driving; Wheel of Fortune is not).

One of the things I enjoyed was Paul Harvey's "The Rest of the Story." This icon of radio with the squeaky, cracking voice also did a news roundup (with a flag-waving conservative bent) that AFN played around midday, but it was his folksy biography with a twist at the end that I found much more interesting.

Paul Harvey died today. He was ninety.

Requiescat in pace (and Good Day!).
