Muslim televangelists

To his credit, President Bush tried to make clear in the aftermath of 9/11 that the vast, vast, vast majority of Muslims were not violent people out to get America and the West. While he may have trampled his own olive branch, I believe his heart was in the right place when he stated this unpopular notion.

Many critics of Islam ask, "Well, where are they? Where are the moderate voices in the Muslim world?" Though this NPR story isn't about moderate Islam versus Muslim extremism per se, it is about a growing movement in Islam expemplified by moderate Muslim preachers on Al Jazeera and other media, the Arabic-speaking version of televangelists.
