Korea Postcard Project

Stafford and Hwarangi inspired me with a great idea (well, I think it's a great idea): Post (on your blog, but The Sonagi Consortium is available if you don't have one) a photo of anything in Korea or Korea-related that you think is postcard-worthy. If Korea did postcards. Which it should. And maybe will. If we do this right.

Here's my first contribution (and no, they don't have to be night shots).

What's it called and where is it at?

    1. The first photo is the century-old Bank of Korea building. It's downtown, at the intersection near Myongdong where Shinsegae Department Store and the Seoul Central Post Office are located.

  2. I am trying to find the name of the second photo and if it is a temple or any other thing, but all I find is the photo and no comments. Please, tell me more about it.

    1. The second photo is Namdaemun, the great south gate if the original walled city.

My home is about half a kilometer from there and I took this while walking home one summer night in 2007, I think.

Since then it was severely damaged in an arson fire and is being dramatically refurbished.
