Whoops! The Korea Times prints the P-word

Thanks to everyone's favorite Bangkok-based French cartoonist who is criticized by the K-blog commentariat as representing the typical Korean mindset (try fitting all that on a myŏngham), the Korea Times has inadvertently printed the P-word.

The P-word as in a woman's vajayjay, though in this meaning it was a sissy or a coward.

But who am I to judge? Though the FCC feels that it's not an okay word to have on the air, maybe the terrorists really are a bunch of pußßies.

Note to our Francophone friend: the word "wusses" would have worked just as well.

  2. Actually, ABC's early morning network news used the word numerous times in a newscast last week--somewhat upsetting the female co-anchor. Of course, it dealt with a story about a cat who likes to ride the bus around England. I believe he takes the number 3 bus, but he's still a pussy.

  3. John, that's pretty funny. It reminds me of a joke Steve Martin did during a prime-time television special when I was a kid, where he suddenly says that his girlfriend has a big pussy. "A cat!" he mockingly yelled to a startled but bemused audience.

This was back in the 1980s, and it was not the kind of pun one normally heard on television back then, so it really stuck out in my mind.

  5. Well, I was a kid in the 1980s. I was in college in the 1990s. I have a personal protest against ageism in Korea (and pretty much everywhere else), so those are all the hints I will give.

I'm old enough and young enough to do most of the things I want to.
