Boa on Enertainment Weekly

Wow, it looks like this girl's career is really taking off in the US. Well, it's already a huge-mega-hyper-ultra success in Korea, Japan, and much of the rest of Asia. The girl has smarts and talent — and pretty decent looks — so I hope she does well. Now if only the banking crisis will take down Bank of America so that all Google searches for "BoA" will go to her and not to that teetering financial institution.

Frankly, though, I'm not a big fan of the look she adopted for this video, though. I like the "pure" BoA look.

  1. I'm not sure what you mean by "pure" BoA. Distill her in a beaker over a bunsen burner?

Though I didn't like her new look when I first saw it at SF Pride, it's grown on me. And it looks like "her" in the sense that I think she helped style it, as opposed to her manager saying, "Here's the monkey suit you're going to wear tonight."

    More details here.

  2. What do I mean? I'm not even sure what I mean half the time.

What I think I was getting at is that BoA was first brought to my attention (and I almost had a chance to meet her then) when she was this hard-working, no-nonsense language-learning girl with great talent.

Now it seems she's adopting so much flash that doesn't seem like her, and that runs counter to my positive first impressions of her.

But I concede that people need to change, and you may be right that this new look is something she might have put together. But having been forced to wear weird clothes I'd never have picked out on my own, to make me "look more interesting," I'm not entirely convinced it didn't happen the other way around: Maybe her handlers got tired of her frumpy college student look and told her to whip it up a notch or two or three.

    Just speculating.
