So I didn't watch Game 4, not at all. Didn't even glance at the updated scoreboard at the Orange County Register (could that have been the problem?) and the Angels lost in a 10-1 massacre (LAT inning-by-inning rundown here).
On Thursday at 5 p.m., local time (8 p.m. New York time), they'll play Game 5 in Anaheim. The Angels, of course, must win three games in a row if they are to go to the World Series. Ditto with the Dodgers, who are also down 3-1 against the Philadelphia Phillies (they play their Game 5 tomorrow, also at 5 p.m. PDT).
Ah, wouldn't it be cool — the stuff of baseball lore — if the two California teams in the running were both able to come back from the brink and make it to the Fall Classic?
No, I'm not holding my breath waiting for a 역전.
What fun is a world series unless you have west vs east? We have to have at least one west coast team in there...I'm sure MLB wants it that way too. But if we are forced to watch the NYY vs PHI, then I will cheer for Philly because they have Chan-Ho. But I talk as if it's already over. I still think the Dodgers have a shot. Comebacks have been the Dodgers' specialty this year. The Yankees have just shown that they are too strong for my local Angels.

LNK, you're right that MLB would prefer an East Coast versus West Coast rivalry, or some other form of regional rivalry, but it's alway fun to have one of those heralded big-time local rivalries play out on the national stage. I mean, a Boston versus New York series piques my interest, so why not an LA versus OC series?
Actually, the San Francisco versus Oakland World Series may have saved many lives when the 1989 earthquake hit just minutes before Game 3 was supposed to start. I think that millions of Bay Area fans, excited that their two teams were both in the Series were already planted safely in front of televisions somewhere instead of out on the highways and bridges that got so badly damaged. Had they had normal traffic patterns for that time of day, there may have been more casualties.

Well, I don't know that they lost Game 2 because they were weak. I think a lot had to do with the miserable weather. They were playing baseball in pouring rain (not to mention the cold), which is not exactly something they'd be used to. The game-ending play would not have happened had the weather been better.

Oh, and LNK, I should add that what fun is it to have a World Series you can't watch because of a jinx. That's what I'll be saying if our Angels lose on Thursday or sometime later in New York.
Hey...keep that hope alive. ANYTHING can happen in baseball. But still....out of all this, I prefer to watch the Dodgers play the Yankees in the WS. MLB would be licking their chops if that happened. Imagine the ratings! Besides, at least the Angels won in '02....it's been a while for the Dodgers and quite frankly, the awesome way they played this year, they deserve the title.

Just tune out completely...play a video game, chat online, get drunk like Edward...just stop thinking about it. Let's see if that works. On second thought, maybe even stop blogging about the Angels. I've actually considered that as a possibility. Back in Korea, when the Angels were doing well one season but I couldn't watch them on TV, I noticed they'd start to badly after I glanced at an American League standings chart in the Stars & Stripes or the Korea Times or something. So I stopped.
Just tune out completely...play a video game, chat online, get drunk like Edward...just stop thinking about it. Let's see if that works. On second thought, maybe even stop blogging about the Angels. Hey..I should stop too!
I'm on it. This is my last comment. I even tried to stay away from the Dodger game, except when I called my mom a little while ago, she watching the Dodger game and she told me (I didn't ask) that the Dodgers were down in the fifth inning. No more for me. I'm out of here.
